Raffles Marina hosts a vibrant and exciting race program that alternates
between three types of racing, which offers races approximately
each fortnight. Racing in the waters surrounding Raffles Marina
offers numerable advantages, including:
- An ideal site to enjoy the South West monsoon season winds,
as well as consistent winds in the North East season as well.
- Sailing waters unencumbered by the notoriously heavy traffic
of the World’s busiest port – RM is sited well away
from the main traffic areas
- Superb facilities to sail from – from perhaps the best
marina and club facilities in Singapore, up sail at the marina
entrance, and you’re sailing!
- Geographically ideal for setting windward/leeward and passage
courses.
Fun Races
Open to all sailing boats, with Portsmouth Yardstick (PY) ratings
applied by the Race Committee to participating boats. While still
competitive, the spirit of the fun races is captured in our slogan
– ‘We Race for Fun’. As such, the format and makeup
of the Fun Races can vary greatly, with traditional ‘round
the can’ racing, or pursuit racing starting from the pub!
In late 2006, new participation records were set at 21 boats racing,
which is certainly a club record, and is believed to be a record
for club racing in Singapore.
International
Racing Certificate (IRC) Racing
Open to all boats with valid IRC certificates, the IRC racing program
is for those that wish to take it to the next level of competition.
Boats racing range from 20’ to 50’+, with an interesting
mixture of windward/leeward and passage races run by the marina
Race Officers.
One Design Racing
Raffles Marina is home-base for the Singapore Laser Sb3 Fleet, an
ever growing fleet of the largest production type Laser keelboat
at 20’. At 10 boats in December 2006, this one design class
is generating large amounts of interest in Singapore as well as
around the World. Raffles Marina runs a One Design Race series for
these Sb3s, as well other one design fleets in Singapore.

Crew
Supporting an ever growing race fleet requires a significant crew
pool for skippers and boat owners. If you have a large amount of
racing experience behind you from Singapore or overseas, or have
some experience and are keen to learn, please post a brief summary
of your experience and contacts in the form below.
If you don’t have any experience in sailing or racing, it
would be helpful to undergo the Competent Crew (or Keel Boat 1)
course to provide the basic skills to be a useful member aboard
a sailing boat.
